SAM Oregon is an affiliate of the National Organization of Smart Approaches to Marijuana. SAM is a network of professionals working in mental health and public health. We are bipartisan. We are Medical Doctors, Lawmakers, Treatment Providers, Preventionists, Teachers, Law Enforcement Officers and others who seek a middle road between incarceration and legalization. Our commonsense, third-way approach to marijuana policy is based on reputable science and sound principles of public health and safety.

We will be monitoring the marijuana law and how the elected officials are handling it. And we will step in with suggestions if needed. We will also be an educational platform for the general public using evidence based science and also using fact based data to update the public on the current status of the marijuana law to date. While the the ultimate goal is a full repeal of Measure 91, it will take baby steps to get there. We will also act as a liaison between the public and your elected officials, so if you have any concerns about how the law is or isn't working we will gladly take your concerns directly to Salem for you.

Our mission is

1. Public Safety ~ Ensuring that politicians do not try to implement anything that could be a risk to public safety.

2. Education ~ Sharing evidence based science from educational organizations to show just how unsafe marijuana can be.

3. Accountability ~ Keeping the public informed on the current stats so you can see just how the law is or isn't working.
